Ikan Emas.

Tetapi mati selepas hari kelima. Tambahan pula akuarium pecah ketika proses menukar air. Selamat saya tanam ketiga-tiga di bawah pokok mangga.

Beberapa bulan lepas Mama beli tiga ekor ikan emas yang agak serupa. Dua minggu kemudian, tinggal seekor sahaja. Tiga termasuk Ayushita. Namanya Raffi dan Mouldy Peach. Dua ekor lagi saya berikan nama Yovie dan Nuno, sempena lagu kegemaran Jaja.

Inilah ikan emas saya.

Raffi pula mempunyai warna putih melebihi warna emas. Warna Moldy Peach emas keseluruhannya. Yovie pula berlainan mata, kiri lain kanan lain. Dan Nuno mempunyai secalit warna hitam dibahagian ekornya. Senang bukan?

Nanti saya pulang. Saya janji. Daa.

Wishlist for May

Ok. It's compact, and not compaq. For no reason, I am now a bash subject. Haha.

I'm eying on Skin Food's White Grape Fresh Pact since my Body Shop's All in One Face Base no 05 cracked and all left is debris of the powder which scatter all over the place. Now that I think Body Shop is a bit overrated and that Skin Food is way cheaper than Body Shop, I am going to buy it as soon as May comes. Or maybe even before. Just need to make sure that I don't buy anything else in May then.

Extremely light pact with fine powder particles glides onto skin, making skin look silky. Potent natural ingredients moisturize, nourish and protect the skin. Silicon-treated powder effectively controls excess sebum. Soft Focus powder minimizes appearances of skin pores. Provides light to medium coverage. Suitable for all skin types.

And I think I'm going to grab the Black Bean Eye Line Pencil as well.

Eyeliner pencil suitable even for sensitive skin. Moisturizes your eyes with black bean nutrients.

These two items will only cost less than RM80, I guess, which I don't think Body Shop offers a similar price for a compact powder and an eye-liner. Let's see whether if I'll just get them this weekend or if I manage to wait till Thursday. Huhu.

By the way, Cikgu Fuziah and Cikgu Sarah is coming today. And Pak Cu will be back from Sri Lanka tomorrow. Wei hei hei. :D

Quoted in Taiping.

I have just came back from a leadership course in Taiping, Perak. It wasn't that bad, in fact, I had enjoyed the three-day course after all. The input given was excellent and very useful. The tasks were helpful in developing our understanding of our job scope. The facilitators (IPBA lecturers) were kind and supportive, except for one, which I don't want to talk about. The place was great. There was no room for us to feel hungry at all, we were fed five times a day. Each and every time, we had a different thing to eat. Heaven.

Of all the sessions, I particularly enjoyed this one session by the oldest and funniest lecturer in IPBA. He gave us some input about leadership and asked us to choose one animal that represent leadership. My group had chosen an elephant along with another group. Other groups had chosen bee, ant, lion and horse. We had to draw the animal on a mahjong paper and later explain why we had chose that particular animal. Being him, he always give funny comments that left us rolling on the floor laughing. And being me, I always jot down the funny things that lecturers of IPBA have said. So, here goes.

He was explaining something about aura that leaders have and that the aura comes from the heart.

'Dalam diri kita ni ada hati (putting both his hand on his tummy).'

On ant:

'Ant has got many legs.....bagus untuk main bola ye.'

'Semut boleh angkat berat 10 kali ganda berat dia. Kalau kamu jadi leader semut, maknanya kamu jadi leader angkat berat.'

On firefly:

'Kecik kunang-kunang ni, kena guna horoskop nak tengok.'

'Kunang-kunang ni ada cahaya. Burung nak tangkap senanglah..... eeeeeeeee iiiuuuuunnnggggg.'

On lion:

'Singa ni, hari-hari menghadapi satu cabaran dalam hidup dia iaitu mengejar haiwan lain untuk dijadikan makanan'.'

Eh, I thought that every animal has to find something to eat and not just lion. Haha. I laughed non-stop during his session. Life was pleasure. True enough, as he gave us this quotation.

'When work is joy, life is pleasure.'

p/s: If you want to imagine how this lecturer looks like, try to think of Mr. Wilson from Dennis the Menace The Movie. They definitely look alike.

Hati yang bulat.

Bulatkan hati. Hati kena bulat. Tekad. Nekad. Jangan pandang belakang. Terasa bulatan hati goyah dengan sms ibunda? Kuatkan kuda-kuda. Pacak batang pisang jangan biar todak menyerang lagi. Jangan biarkan air mata menitis berjujuran. Cukup sudah 3 hari. Eh, bercucuran lah, berjuraian. Bukan berjujuran. Huks.

Negeri mana jadi pilihan?
Selangor Darul Ehsan.

Kenapa Selangor?

Daerah mana jadi pilihan?

Sudahlah. Zas.

Haha. Eleh Najib. At least you already have Soya. Huh.

That's one quote coming from a man with few words. Well, he used to be one. Thanks to Soya and her wonders. Alah lah. And now, let's hear from the man with lots of funny quotes. Thanks to an email fowarded by Jaja.

*drum roll*

Dato' Seri Samy Vellu.

*clap clap*

Samy Vellu on Pos Laju: 'Besok kirim, hari ini sampai.'

On TV, when he was trying to say that he was ashamed: 'Kemaluan saya besar.'

During a public talk:
SV: 'Kita akan bina satu jambatan untuk orang-orang kampung di sini."
Pak cik: 'Dato', di sini tiada sungai, buat apa bina jambatan?'
SV: 'Kalau takde sungai, kita bina sungai!'

He's favourite quotes on national television: 'Toll naik sikit, manyak marah saya. You ingat semua ini toll saya punya bapa punya kah?!'

During a water crisis: 'Semua orang diminta jangan membuang aiyerrr..!'

On social problems among youngsters: 'Orang-orang muda sekarang banyak hisap dada.'

During a blood donation campaign in Sg Siput: 'Marilah kita semua menderma dara.'

In his speech in different functions: 'Selamat datang saudara-mara semua.'

During the height of the Al-Arqam saga: 'Saya gembira bahawa didapati tiada pemuda MIC terlibat dalam kes Arqam.'

Announcement and Giant

My sisters and I went to Giant today. As soon as we got out of the car, this is what we heard.

Announcer: Attention staff from the ladies depart. Staff from the ladies depart.
The three of us: Aaa? Depart? Ape tu? Hahahaha.
Announcer: Attention staff from the ladies depart.
The three of us: Hahahahahaha.
Me: Depart pegi mane ni weh?

And this, when we got out of Giant.

Me: Takde announcement ke ni? Hahaha.
In an instant.
Announcer: Attention staff from the cashier depart. Mr F****** from cashier depart.
Jaja: Haa tu. Hahahahahaha. Nak sangat.

And I remember the time Jaja and I went there a few months ago.

Announcer: Attention to all customer, Giant will be opened until twels midnights tonight.
Both of us: Twels midnights? Hahahaha.

No, I didn't mean to laugh. But come to think of it, you need to make announcement using the right words and the right pronounciation. Depart, maybe a short one for department. But depart has another meaning. And, twels midnights? I just can't help but to laugh.

:|

I woke up this morning to Mama's phone call. She told me that she's going to perform another round of umrah somewhere in the end May. This time around, she going with Atok, Nenek, Arep, Pak Cu and Mak Cu. I am happy for her, for the news but I can't help feeling envy and jealous that Arep is going. When she told me that Pak Cu asked Atok to bring her instead of him, I was hoping that what she's going to say next is, 'I'm taking all of you as well.' Well, as you probably have guessed, no, that's not what she said. She's taking Arep along so that he'll already have the experience when he needs to take us or his wife later. I understand that. I understand that, insyaAllah, I'll have my husband to guide me and to take me to the Holy land to perform both umrah and hajj. But, umrah is something big. Something very spiritual and personal and private that I guess when your parents take one of your siblings along and not you, deep down inside you feel jealous. No matter what the reason is or how valid the reason is for not taking you along. So right now, after 14 hours hearing the news, I'm still a bit sad and disappointed that I am not able to go with them. Alah lah.

Laugh laugh.

Despite of today's busy-ness and hangin-ness, I had a good laugh during the Professional Development lecture by Dr. Rajagopal.

'If an engineer made a mistake, only one building will collapse. Look at MRR2.'

Haha. Sir, MRR2 is not a building.

'Whatever you've learnt in England, New Zealand and Auckland.'

Haha. Sir, Auckland is in New Zealand. I know you wanted to say Australia.

'GU is kegelapan and RU is cahaya. So, guru means dari kegelapan kepada keceriaan.'

Haha. Sir, it's kecerahan and not keceriaan.

Of which he answered, 'Never mind lah. You all understand me, don't you.'

Haha.

And, I still couldn't understand why more than half of the students did not find these amusing and bermuka ketat during the lecture. Have a bit of fun in your life, boleh tak?

Fresh from bed.

Coincidence? Maybe. This is entry number 150, the first one since thelilmindofmine has a new appearance. Pure coolness. Haha. Well, I was already bored with the green layout I had previously, and changing the blog colour to pink-purple doesn't really do any good either. Thus, the new layout.

I am now back in IPBA after one good break despite the fact that I fell ill a few days ago and still have to swallow the antibiotics prescribed by the doctor. I blame the weather in the northern part of Malaysia for my sickness. Haha.

So how did I spend my one week break?

I voted for the first time during the recent general election. Auntie Kiah made my day a few hours before the voting took place. I had just woken up and went straight to the door to have a chat with Auntie, Uncle, Azhar and Mama.

Auntie: Eh, ada orang potong rambut lah. Comelnya.
Alin: (Dalam hati berkata-kata, 'dah lama potong la', tersenyum-senyum sipu).
Auntie: Orang kata, kalau nak tengok someone tu lawa ke comel ke tak, tengoklah time orang tu baru bangun tido.
Alin: Maknanya, Alin comel lah ni?
Auntie: Comel.
Alin: Alah lah (tersipu-sipu senyum lagi).

Haha. A good start for the day eh? So, the day continued and I went to cast my vote in SK St Francis. I was too tired to wait for the results so I asked Azwan to give me all the updates. Travelled to Guar Chempedak on the next day to attend Wani's wedding and arrived just in time for her akad nikah. FYI, I sat on her left side through the whole akad process. Ambik berkat eh. Spend a few hours at her house while waiting for other friends to arrive. The boys wanted to go to Penang and we decided to come along. Another ferry ride after 15 years. Macam jakun sikit naik feri. Haha. So after another night spent at Chinot's house, I returned home. My nose started bleeding the next day, not dripping blood kind of thing, but everytime I sneeze, there's blood in the mucus. I was flat for the next two days, was down with fever and almost had an asthma attack. Thank God for precaution pills.

On Thursday, I felt better and since it was Mama's birthday, I bought her a cake, Mango Delight from Secret Recipe. We went to KL on Friday, Jaja had cooked dinner so we invited Mak Cu and co. as well. Travelled to Melaka the next day to visit Arep, and had lunch at Kenny Rogers. Came back, had a short rest and had a dinner treat at TGI Friday Subang Parade. Thanks to Mak Cu and Celcom. Mak Cu was given a bonus, you see. Haha. This morning, we went to Amcorp Mall. Mama was looking for brooches or sepit rambut kind of things to wear with her headscarves but she ended up buying something else. I didn't buy anything except for Caramel Creme Frap from Starbucks. Back in IPBA, I spent a few hours moping and tidying up my locker, had lunch, and did the whole blog layout thingy. And, here I am.

So, tomorrow is another day of lectures. Back to reality of life. Busy-ness and hangin-ness.

Pangkah Shudah.

Dah pangkah dah. Jam 10.40 tadi pegi. Pukul 11 dah beratur nak cuci kereta. Sekejap sahaja. Nak masuk pintu pagar St. Francis tadi ada nyonya datang approach. 'Amoi, undi BN ya. Dua-dua BN.' Ye lah nyonya. Tengoklah nanti. Haha.

Tiket bas dah jual balik. Dapat balik RM10. Pegi sana tumpang Uncle Tamjis dengan Aunty Kiah. Uncle dengan Aunty nak ngundi kat Butterworth. Azhar jadi driver. Tiket pon Azhar tolong jualkan balik tadi.

Ini nak pegi walimah jauh-jauh, walimah depan rumah tak pegi. Esok juga. Shudah nampak pengantin lelakinya berus lantai rumah. Khemah dah siap pacak pon. Malam tadi sampai sudah ada. Ada enam khemah semuanya. Reverse kereta kena hati-hati. Langgar pagar sampai patah takpe lagi. Buat pagar baru terush. Kalau langgar tiang khemah shushah. Parah. Rosak walimah orang nanti.

Shudahlah. Ini hanyalah rant sahaja. Sudah lama tak berupdate. Nanti pulang dari walimah Wani baru update lagilah. Kalau rajin.

A dallop of bliss and sympathy.

It was a temporary bliss when I had this for lunch on Sunday.

And another bliss yesterday when I saw this on my bed. (It wasn't intentional.)

Had a good laugh seeing Miller kicked Asha when all this while Asha was the naughty one.

And although I never like Arsenal, I felt sorry for Eduardo, for what he has gone through and has to go through.

A good dallop of bliss and sympathy to start the week, eh?

Malim Kundang, Seri Chempaka & Seri Melur.

Malim Kundang and Seri Chempaka is an item. They are in love with each other. However, at one point of their relationship, Malim Kundang met Seri Melur. So, Malim Kundang is now having relationships with two women, one with Seri Chempaka, of which everyone knows all about them and another one with Seri Melur, an affair, I would say. Malim Kundang has now think that he is much more in love with Seri Melur.

Ku mencintaimu lebih dari apapun
Meski tiada satu orangpun yang tahu
Ku mencintaimu sedalam dalam hatiku
Meskipun engkau hanya kekasih gelapku

Now that Malim Kundang thinks he is much more in love with Seri Melur, he thinks that he is in love with Seri Chempaka still. Malim Kundang is now confused, of who to choose.

Aku yang tak pernah bisa lupakan dirinya
Yang kini hadir diantara kita
Namun ku juga takkan bisa menepis bayangmu
Yang slama ini temani hidupku

Maafkan aku menduakan cintamu

Berat rasa hatiku tinggalkan dirinya
Dan demi waktu yang bergulir di sampingmu
Maafkanlah diriku sepenuh hatimu
Seandainya bila ku bisa memilih

Malim Kundang chooses to be together with Seri Melur. Some time later, he wants Seri Chempaka back. He realises that Seri Melur is not for him, she is not the one, for he thinks that Seri Chempaka is his soulmate, the one that is meant for him.

Aku ingin engkau slalu
Hadir dan temani aku
Disetiap langkah
Yang meyakiniku
Kau tercipta untukku
Sepanjang hidupku

Seri Chempaka has had enough of Malim Kundang. She does not want him anymore, for she has moved on. Malim Kundang is devastated, but he soon realises that this is what life has to offer, and he let go off Seri Chempaka.

Ku ingin kau tahu
Diriku di sini menanti dirimu
Meski ku tunggu
Hingga ujung waktuku

Moral of the story:
Ungu (yes, the Indonesian band) has lots of love songs that depict different kinds of feelings, emotions and situations.

Hahaha.

Tagged by Nisahk.

10 years ago:
I was 13. I was in Form 1. I lost weight a lot but I wasn't skinny because school was in the afternoon. The only heavy meal I had was during dinner and I didn't eat anything before school. This is the same year that I realised that I couldn't allow myself to be under pressure, for I will suffer from asthma attacks. Something that I wish I didn't know because I took the situation for granted and not study for exams.

5 years ago:
I was 18. Life was great, after SPM, you see. Not doing anything at home, except for some house chores. I was in MMU Melaka for a few weeks, of which I believed life was happier there, but money was the issue. I went for the interview, got into this course and here I am.

1 year ago:
I was enjoying myself in the cold weather of Plymouth. I had a few things done, of which I wouldn't do if I was studying in Malaysia. I was a steward for the Islamic Experience Exhibition, giving talks about the five pillars of Islam. I was a student ambassador for Marjon, doing some tours around college for those who are interested to study in Marjon. I worked for Royal Mail, throwing parcels and sorting mails according to the respective areas. I went for a holiday in Disneyland Paris, shopping without having to refrain myself, thanks to Royal Mail for its GBP7 per hour payment. On a sad side, I lost my father due to septicemia and multiple organs disfunction. Life was not the same anymore. I have to teach myself to be strong, to be patient and to think positively as there are reasons for whatever that has happened.

Yesterday I was:
High. Manchester United won, which means FREE movie tickets, popcorn and Coke. I spent some time with Mama, Along, Jaja and Arep. Went to Melaka with Jaja to send Arep back to his hostel. Applied smoky eyes on Soya. And only towards the end of the day that I finished the assignment on assessment in schools.

5 snacks I enjoy:
1. Super Ring.
2. Kuih bahulu.
3. Haziq and Alya.
4. And Adam too.
5. Chocolates.

5 songs I know all the words to:
1. Most of Anuar Zain's songs.
2. All Boyzone's songs.
3. Saiful Apek's Aspalela.
4. Barney's I love you, you love me song.
5. Some of the classic rock kapak songs.

5 bad habits:
1. Long afternoon nap.
2. Talk loudly.
3. Laughing out loud.
4. Easily hangin over small matters.
5. Not tidying up my bed after the afternoon nap.

5 biggest joy:
1. My family.
2. My friends.
3. Handbags.
4. Able to find size 9 shoes.
5. Food.

5 favourite toys:
1. Delilah. The pink laptop.
2. Sammy. The pink Samsung d900i.
3. My digital camera.
4. Miller and Asha. While Asha is still under my care.
5. The Quirky Wacky Ducky. The vacum for keyboards and laptops.

5 favourite tv shows:
1. CSI: Las Vegas and New York.
2. Prison Break.
3. Friends.
4. Two Guys, A Girl and A Pizza Place.
5. Slot cerekarama.

Semakan daftar pemilih.

Ok, nama di database SPR sudah disemak. Cik Alin akan mengundi untuk DUN Sitiawan, untuk Parlimen Lumut. Berdebar sudah. Duk dak duk dak. Pes taim ni. Haha. Beria sangat nak minta cuti ni, Cik Alin. Haha.

Meh, kita turun mengundi, jom.

Tapi, Azwan kata maksudnya kena turun mengundi lah tu. Baiklah.*

Of PD and names.

So, we had Mr Nazri for Professional Development lecture today and tomorrow. Boy, he was funny! Not in terms of giving lecture, but in terms of changing people's name.

'Let me have your name list and I will call you out. 'Ainur Rahman. Where are you?'
(crowd laughing, including the owner of the name) 'It's 'Ainur Rahmah, sir.'
'Oh, 'Ainur Rahmah binti Ellias? Yes.'

'Fatimah (long pause, everyone is eager to know which Fatimah he is referring to) Fatima Anne Sebastian.'
(crowd laughing again, since everyone expected the other Fatimah)
'................' (Anne expressed her opinion)
'Thank you, Fatima and Sebastian. I think Anne should be spelled as A.N.D and not A.N.N.E."

'Lim Tow Suan, what do you think of this?'
'.................' (long explanation)
'Oh, good. You should really change your name to Lim Tau Semua.'

Haha. OK sir, I think you are really funny.

By the way, this is the same Mr. Nazri who interviewed me in 2003.

Reunion, Farewell and Joyride.

So, on Thursday the crooked bunch of F2.4 (2004) had a reunion / farewell party in The Curve, Damansara. Crazy, it was. With the same familiar faces and the same familiar laughter but not quite the same size. It was good to see everyone again after 2 years of being abroad.

To Mdm Rozanna and Mdm Fazlinah, good luck in pursuing your PHD. All the best. Without you, we wouldn't be where we are today. We wouldn't be the crooked lot / crazy human beings who love each other. Though we are crazy, your laughter, our laughter keep us sane. Let's keep in touch. Mdm Faz, there are lots of factory outlet in Portsmouth, have a great time shopping. Tumpang handbag satu boleh? Keh keh keh. Mdm Rozanna, I guess, I'll be seeing you around in KL. I nak datang rumah u, ok.

P/s: I am a co-pilot tak berapa boleh pakai. Asyik salah jalan. Took a turn when you are not supposed to and miss a turn when you are supposed to take the turn. End up ber-joyride / merempit lah malam itu. Dari Damansara ke Gombak ke Jalan Ipoh ke Jalan TAR ke Dataran Merdeka and finally sampai IPBA lah. Sambil merempit, menyanyi kuat-kuat to Pupus by Dewa. Baru ku sedarriiiiiiii~~~

Neo naik truck.

I am currently in Shah Alam when I am supposed to be at home in Sitiawan. What happened was my sister's Neo broke down just before Ijok and right after the Chinese graveyard. She couldn't press the pedal, the stering wheel can't be controlled and slowly the car stopped on its own. She called Proton Service Centre and waited about 45 minutes for Abg Proton. He came with his wife and managed to start the car. About two minutes after that the car broke down again and this time nothing can be done except to have it towed to Proton's workshop. We waited more than an hour for the truck. My sister had already fallen asleep, I got bored of waiting that I counted how many vehicles that passed us by. From 12.44 am to 12.55 am, there were 59 wehicles including 3 motorcycles and the tow truck is vehicle nnumber 60. Abg Proton had asked another friend, Abg Proton 2 to send us to Shah Alam. On the way, Abg Proton 2 took us to Mutiara Damansara Proton Centre to wait for Neo and settled some forms. We arrived safely in Shah Alam at around 3 a.m.

They are really nice guys, including the Abg Proton On the Phone and Abg Insurans. I gave Abg Proton 2 some money, a treat for him and Abg Proton. Abg Proton even invited us to his wedding in March. Har har har. That was really nice of him.

Here's some pictures of Neo in Mutiara Damansara.
Neo is still on the truck. The guy in black shirt and white pants is Abg Proton 2.

In the process of getting Neo on to the ground.

Neo is already on the ground.

Later today we'll be heading to Sitiawan in Mak Cu's Waja and will probably pick Neo up on Sunday.

To Abg Proton, Abg Proton 2, Abg Proton On the Phone and Abg Insurans, if you are reading this (I dont think you read this by the way), we just want to say thank you very much for your help. We really appreciate it.

Yesterday.

This is meant to be posted yesterday.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Today, 17th January 2007, marks the eight month since the day that Allah took Ayah's life. Time really flies. It felt like yesterday that I received the news that he was admitted to the hospital. It felt like yesterday that I was allowed to go home to see my family, full expenses paid by Marjon. It felt like yesterday that relatives are afraid to tell me the bad news as soon as I landed. It felt like yesterday that I visited his grave for the first time and cried. It felt like yesterday that I visited his grave every weekend. It felt like yesterday that I helped Mama to placed the tombstone on his grave. It felt like yesterday that I helped to plant some orchids next to the tombstone. It felt like yesterday that I scattered flowers and pandan leaves on the grave. It felt like yesterday that I cried because he was not there to celebrate my birthday. It felt like yesterday that I held a tahlil for him. Everything felt like they have just happened just the day before. But, all these things happened in the course of eight months. I still have not visit his grave since I came back although this was the first thing that I wanted to do.I really wished that I had done so during the one week I was at home now that I'm missing him very much. It hurts when mama said that she dreamt of him sometimes. It hurts when Jaja said that he came into her dreams. He had never come into mine. If I had just one wish, I wish that he will come into my dream, even for a short while. I wanted to see him very much, for I am missing him dearly.

Lecturers say the darndest things:

'Focused skill is like having a boyfriend. You can't teach two focused skills just like you can't have two boyfriends at the same time.' (on the teaching of four skills in English language classrooms)

'Elaborate with examples. For those of you who lack of English, huraikan dengan contoh.' (on Professional Development assignment)

'We can work together because I'm an English educated man.' (on collaboration/working together between the HEP and Cohort 2 students)

'OK, your reading is not bad after all.' (during Professional Development tutorial)

'We have loss our statute and prestige because we have teachers like you!' (on teaching being a profession)

'Haa, yang itu, dah sampai Marjon.' (during Islamic Civilisation lecture, of which I fell asleep)

Welcome 2008.

2008 is going to end its first day of the year. To tell you the truth, I have no new year resolutions. Well, I had one, but it was destroyed as soon as my cousin switched to one of the channels that highlighted new year concert/celebration. The resolution was not to watch any new year concert/celebration/countdown.

Since I have no new year resolutions, I am just going to reflect last year's resolution.

Well, I was cheated by some group of men, (resolution #1 does not mean in the world of 'percintaan', but by any man). The computer/maintenance people did not come when they said they will. I eventually did some dieting (didn't turn out well, by the way). I still procrastinate (started TECC assignment 3 days before the handing in date, not to forget the non-sleeping Sunday nights/Monday mornings so that I can hand in the drafts of the dissertation by Monday noon). I think I did more reading, especially for the Comparative Education module. I stopped doing my reading log a few days after resolution #5 was made. I did not exercise, well, I considered shopping as exercising. So, at least I may have burnt some fat. I did stop complaining, and whenever I started to complain about things, I remind myself to stop. I did do things sincerely, though at times I still feel irritated as I was the only one doing certain things. I did not manage to travel to other places. I did get a part time job as a student ambassador and a mail sorter. I did find some time every day to read the Quran after Maghrib or Isya', but I did not read the translation to the verses. Finally, I don't know whether I have become a better person inside out. That, I have to ask opinion of others. :D

So, I still have no new year resolution. Everyday is a new day anyway, so you can make new resolution every day as you wish.

On a serious side.

I was fairly disappointed with the kind of celebrations that we have in our country. Concerts, gathering of men and women, countdowns, etc. It does not reflect the Islamic country that we claim ourselves to be. Yesterday itself, there was about 4 to 5 concerts being aired on the television, and those concerts were in KL alone. And in today's Harian Metro, there was a full page coverage on the celebration and only a small section on the Bacaan Yassin to welcome the new year in Melaka. There was an Islamic forum and nasyid performance held in the mosque next to KLCC, but I guess some people would prefer to choose to attend the concert at KLCC, for it was the entertainment that they were looking for. Buletin Utama highlighted that social problems have emerged each and everytime new year is celebrated. Well, it is pretty clear anyway. These problems emerged every year but still we still have concerts and celebrations to welcome the new year. You know the impacts of these sorts of events but you still hold it anyway. So why bother saying that we still have the 'ketimuran' in us, when everything that we do is all 'kebaratan'.

And there's this sending mat rempit to Kutub Utara by Pemuda UMNO. ??!!??. And a plan to use mat rempits to bring the voters to the voting centres in the next election. Again, ??!!??. May I suggest that we recruit all these mat rempits to become delivery guy for Mcdonalds, KFCs and Pizza Huts. Or FedEx, Nationwide Express, DHL, UPS can recruit them as despatchers. Maybe all the kedai mamak can have their own delivery guy too. At least these mat rempits have a long term job, rather than something that they will do only once in five years.

Let us see what kind of news we are going to get tomorrow. And I'm sure we all gonna be surprised, well, maybe not.

Happy new year.
